Understanding ADHD and Autism, Together.

It is not uncommon to recognise traits of both ADHD and Autism in yourself. These can include difficulties with focus, organisation or impulsivity, alongside other feelings such as sensory sensitivity, social exhaustion, or a lifelong sense of feeling maybe feeling different.

How our Assessment Works

Your assessment is completed across clearly defined stages to ensure depth, objectivity and clinical accuracy.

There can be a significant crossover between ADHD and Autism, difficulties with focus may sit alongside sensory overwhelm. Social fatigue can co-exist with impulsivity. Executive functioning challenges may look similar across both conditions but arise for different reasons.

Both conditions may involve differences in executive functioning, emotional regulation and sensory processing, which can often affect relationships, work, education and just daily routines. Because of this overlap, it can be difficult to know what is driving the challenges you're experiencing, or whether one condition, the other, or both are present.

We take time to understand the full picture. Our combined assessment pathway is designed to differentiate carefully, integrate thoughtfully and provide a clear, joined-up outcome. Our Adult AuDHD Assessment brings both pathways together into one coordinated, multidisciplinary process, designed to provide clarity, diagnostic accuracy and practical next steps you can actually use.

1

Developmental History, Screening & QbCheck

We begin with structured background information and objective data gathering, this is so we can obtain as much information as possible.

This may include:

  • Detailed developmental history
  • ADHD screening questionnaires
  • Autism screening questionnaires exploring traits and daily impact
  • Informant input (partner/parent where helpful)
  • QbCheck, a computer-based objective assessment measuring attention, impulsivity and activity levels
  • Clinical review and confirmation of next steps

QbCheck provides measurable behavioural data that can strengthen a diagnosis, we use Qb alongside interview findings. Any Screening informs the pathway but does not provide a diagnosis. If proceeding to full assessment is appropriate for Autism, we explain exactly what that involves before moving forward.

2

ADHD Diagnostic Evaluation

DIVA-5 Interview (1.5 hours, online)

The DIVA5 is a structured ADHD diagnostic interview exploring childhood presentation, adult symptoms and functional impact.

Consultant Psychiatrist Appointment (1.5/2 hours online or face-to-face)

The Consultant Psychiatrist will have reviewed the QB and DIVA5 findings. Alongside all of the information you have provided and discussed, they will explain the results and outcomes and conduct an evaluation, alongside assessing for co existing conditions. At this assessment the Dr will confirm whether ADHD diagnostic criteria has been met, they will discuss options for treatment and where relevant and appropriate discuss medication options.

  • Reviews QbCheck and DIVA-5 findings
  • Conducts a full psychiatric evaluation
  • Assesses for co-existing conditions
  • Confirms whether ADHD diagnostic criteria are met
  • Discusses medication options where appropriate
3
